The leaves of the Indian Almond Tree (Terminalia Catappa) provide numerous benefits for many tropical fish and shrimp. The tannins released when soaking the leaves in your tank impart a golden brown colour which reduces the pH and adds rich and healthy organic compounds such as humic acid and flavonoids.
Shredded leaf litter breaks down faster than whole leaves, so it releases its tannins sooner and builds a natural leaf litter bed across your substrate. It is a good fit for shrimp tanks, blackwater setups and botanical-method aquariums.
Directions: We recommend pre-soaking the leaves on first use to achieve your desired tannin strength. Temporarily remove the activated carbon from your filtration to avoid stripping the tannins while the leaves break down.
